Pricing Guide -

Here you will find the starting prices for restoring a book with Raven’s Key. Pricing is divided by book size and type of work - structural vs. cosmetic.

Small Book - $200

At Raven’s Key, a small book is anything lesser than or equal to 5.5” x 8.5” in size. Examples include miniature books, pocketbooks, novellas, and US trade paperbacks.

  • The flat fee for a small book includes all necessary structural repairs and options for minor cosmetic repairs.

    • A new cloth or buckram cover

    • re-hinging

    • spine reinforcement

    • essential page mending and guarding

    • repair of minor page tears and creases

    • basic stamping

    • ribbon bookmark

Medium Book - $300

At Raven’s Key, a medium book ranges in size from 6” x 9” to 8.5” x 11”. Examples include US trade hardcovers, textbooks, picture books, and regular bibles. Large-format Children’s Books are included at this pricing.

Large Book - $450

At Raven’s Key, a large book is anything equal to or larger than 7” x 10”. Examples include family bibles, large textbooks, large-format science/technical books, and art books.

  • The flat fee for a small book includes all necessary structural repairs and options for minor cosmetic repairs.

    • A new cloth or buckram cover

    • re-hinging

    • spine reinforcement

    • essential page mending and guarding

    • repair of minor page tears and creases

    • basic stamping

    • ribbon bookmark

Cosmetic Repairs -

Alongside structural repairs, Raven’s Key offers a variety of cosmetic repair and customization options.*

  • Illustration repair - $50

    This flat fee includes the repair of minor damage or losses that impact the viewing of the illustration.

    Full Illustration Restoration - $25/hr

    This hourly rate is for the full restoration of a cover or interior illustration. This includes the repair of all major and minor damage, the filling of losses, and detailed color matching.

  • Custom Stamping - $50+

    Custom stamping includes added decorative elements or custom ordered die-cut stamps.

    *Basic stamping of a title and/or name are included in the structural repair fee detailed above.

  • Invisible Edge & Corner Repairs - $50

    This includes the mending of torn corners or edges on covers. Repairs will be made with high-quality long-fiber paper and precisely color-matched to camouflage the repair.

  • Advanced Page Mending - $20/hr

    This includes the mending of majorly damaged or folded pages. Basic repairs are included in the structural fee.

    Page Conservation - $75/hr

    This includes the careful conservation of damaged pages. Processes include fiber overlay, filling of losses with handmade paper matching texture and color of original and mending tears/ cuts with high-quality east asian paper.

  • Leather Cover - $50+

    This includes a custom made full-leather cover with the client’s desired color and texture.

* Please note - cosmetic repairs and customizations are not included in the fee for structural repairs.
