The time varies for each project based on the complexity of the restoration. However, most books are restored and returned to the client within 2 to 4 weeks.

Can I track the progress of my book’s restoration?

How much does it cost to restore a book?

Restoration costs depend on the book’s condition, the extent of the work needed, and the client’s desired outcome. What kind of damage can be repaired?

At Raven’s Key, we can address and repair a range of issues including torn or wrinkled pages, broken bindings, damaged or missing covers, faded illustrations, and more. Each book is evaluated and given an appropriately tailored restoration.

Can you restore a book with missing pages?

Yes, Raven’s Key can restore a book that is missing pages. However, we do not currently offer the reprinting or replacement of any missing pages.

Does restoration affect the monetary value of a book?

Short answer - yes, the restoration of a rare or collectible book can affect its monetary value. In some cases, restoration can add value and in others, it can decrease the value. For more information on whether restoration is right for your book, check out our blog post.

Can I save the original cover of my damaged book?

Saving the original cover of a damaged book is a common practice in restoration. However, the condition of the cover must first be properly evaluated by the restorer before deciding whether it can be kept or if it should be replaced.

What if my book has mold or mildew?

Is there a proper way to pack a book for shipping?

When packing a book, we advise wrapping it in either bubble wrap or packing foam and placing it in a box for shipping. Ensure the book is not sliding around the box by using bubble wrap or newspaper to fill any voids. While using bubble wrap envelopes is an option for shipping books, we do not recommend them. Shipping your book in a box is a better way to ensure it is not damaged in transit.

Can you restore a book with sentimental value but not monetary value?

Of course! A majority of the books that we work on only have sentimental value. Making sure that your favorite book or family heirloom lasts for many years to come is important to us at Raven’s Key.
